Welcome to the first edition of Disability in Focus following Annual Conference. The elections that took place at Annual Conference have brought about some changes to the committee & therefore I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks to those members who are leaving, for their work with the DSNAC.
I would also like to welcome the new members who were elected to the committee. The DSNAC AGM was held in June and now that we have that out of the way, the committee can get on with the business in hand.
Education is going to be one of our key priorities this year and with that in mind. Both the Vice-Chair and myself will be involved in training at Alvescot and the Elstead.

The most important message that we would like to get across to our disabled members is that discrimination on the grounds of disability is totally unacceptable and it is also in breach of the Disability Discrimination Act.
If any disabled member feels that they are being discriminated against because of their disability, then our advice is to take the matter up with their local branch in the first instance. If they are unable to resolve the problem, then the Equal Opportunities Department at Union Headquarters in Wimbledon will be more than happy to offer advice and assistance.
